Faith & Learning Network
The Faith & Learning Network brings together the knowledge of scholars who are exploring a Christian worldview in their academic work. The Faith & Learning Network includes a bibliographic database and special library collection, bringing Christian resources together in one physical and virtual location.
The Faith & Learning Network Bibliographic Database
The Faith & Learning Bibliography (FLN) is a comprehensive database of resources related to "faith and learning," accessible to scholars around the world via the internet.
The Bibilography incorporates:
materials produced by scholars whose academic work is rooted in their Christian faith
materials that explicitly address the role of faith in learning
materials that, while not addressing this matter directly, embody an effort to engage in scholarly work as a Christian
Presently, the Bibliography includes over 7,300 citations, many of which refer to items held in the ICS library. We welcome scholars who wish to contribute further to the bibliography. Entries can be found on both the online ICS library catalogue and the Institutional Repository.
Repository Collection
We are in the process of moving the FLN Bibliography into our Institutional Repository. You can find what we have moved to date in the FLN collection of the Institutional Repository.
Library Collection
ICS has begun to build a Faith & Learning library collection. These items are integrated into the ICS Library, and supplement our current collection development practices. To search the FLN database on the click on 'Advanced Search' and select FLN Bibliography.
Document Delivery / Inter-Library Loan
Many books and articles listed in the database are available to North American scholars via inter-library loan or document delivery. Document delivery is also available internationally.
International Scholars: We will strive to assist international scholars in finding local holdings of books listed in the bibliography. Document Delivery is available to IAPCHE members at a nominal fee. The special circumstances of researchers in developing countries will be accommodated.
Knowledge Base
As part of our network, we plan to develop a Knowledge Base of scholars whose work is included in the bibliography. Relevant information would include:
fields of study/expertise
education
current position
courses taught, etc.
Interested scholars and educational institutions are encouraged to forward both bibliographic and curriculum vitae information (see criteria below).
Add to the Faith & Learning Network
ICS welcomes further citations to add to the Faith & Learning Network Bibliographic Database. Citations should meet the following criteria:
Works which relate directly to the topic of the relationship between Christian faith and teaching/learning in higher education
Works which treat this topic briefly or indirectly
Selected works which clearly demonstrate a Christian perspective in their scholarly approach
Please submit citations to the Bibliographic Information Manager at librarian@icscanada.edu.
